Types of Credits

There are multiple types of credits available for attendees:

Continuing Professional (CPE) Education Credits Information

CPE credits will be offered for most tracks* during the BCBS 2020 Summit Virtual Sessions. This virtual program provides a unique forum for education and discussion that will address timely industry issues such as federal healthcare reform initiatives, business innovation and best practices, and changes in regulations, standards or guidelines.

  • Hear experts give updates on key issues and trends affecting our industry

  • Exchange multidisciplinary perspectives on relevant issues

  • Network with counterparts at other Blue Cross Blue Shield Plans and BCBSA

Program Level: Basic.
Delivery Method: Group-Live.
Field of Study: Specialized Knowledge.
Attendees are eligible to earn up to 32 CPE credits. There are no prerequisites for this program. No advance preparation is required. Sponsored learning activities are measured by program length, with one 50-minute period equal to one CPE credit. One-half CPE credit increments (equal to 25 minutes) are permitted after the first credit has been earned in a given learning activity. Please note that not all state boards have adopted this rule. Some participants may not be able to use one-half credit increments.

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: http://www.learningmarket.org.

CPE credits and certificates are managed by attendees in the BCBS 2020 Summit Virtual Sessions App.

For questions about continuing education credits, contact Ellen Becker at ellen.becker@bcbsa.com or at 312.297.5973.

*CPE credits are not available for sessions in the Lawyers & Legal Assistants (LAW) track.

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Credits Information

Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Credits Information
Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credits will be offered for lawyers during the BCBS 2020 Summit Virtual Sessions. No other continuing education credits are applicable to the sessions in the Lawyers & Legal Assistants (LAW) track.* The Lawyers and Legal Assistants (LAW) track during the BCBS 2020 Summit Virtual Sessions provides an exceptional learning experience featuring expert legal speakers covering all aspects of healthcare law. This event is an opportunity to increase your understanding of critical healthcare industry topics and fulfill your continuing legal education requirements. The Lawyers & Legal Assistants (LAW) track opens the door to mentoring, coaching, feedback and exchange. This virtual event provides a unique forum for attorneys, paralegals and compliance officers to engage in targeted discussions on healthcare law issues and healthcare reform.

Program level: Intermediate. Most attorneys in the United States must take an average of 13 hours of CLE accredited courses each year. BCBS 2020 Summit Virtual Sessions attendees can expect to earn a portion of their required CLE credit for their participation in this comprehensive two-week virtual program. The Blue Plan Legal Department Cooperative’s CLE Coordinator will apply for credit for this conference in all states with mandatory CLE requirements. If you have questions about CLEs, you can contact Yara Maietta (yara.maietta@bcbsa.com), or Jim Voltz (jim.voltz@bcbsa.com). Following the end of the conference, we will provide each interested registrant (licensed in a state(s) with mandatory CLE requirements) with a record of the filing made on your behalf to your state(s)’s CLE accrediting/compliance authority.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Association is an accredited sponsor with many of the state regulatory bodies for continuing legal education in the U.S. We ask that international attendees contact the CLE Coordinator directly with inquiries. State regulatory bodies have final authority on the approval of course applications submitted by the Blue Cross Blue Shield Plan Legal Department Cooperative.

This conference will consist of a series of presentations with collateral slides, syllabi and an interactive question-and-answer element. Delegates will receive an electronic evaluation at the close of the event to note the educational quality of sessions. Certificates of credit are emailed based on state approvals, usually within eight weeks of the event.

For questions about continuing legal education credits, contact Yara Maietta at yara.maietta@bcbsa.com or at 312.297.6027.

*CLE credits are only applicable to any sessions of the Lawyers & Legal Assistants (LAW) track. CPE credits nor CME/CE credits are applicable to sessions in the LAW track.
